Toilet Paper called "Happy Ending"

I am back in Munich and was welcomed by a frosty, well lit, furniture bare, newly renovated apartment. Not sure this is more comfortable than my hotel gig but it certainly feels more permanent. Shopping trips for household necessities to Tengelmann led to the encounter with "Happy ending". In massage friendly Asia, you maybe asked when you go for a massage if you want a normal massage or a happy ending massage!! Coincidence I say, particularly since this one of my first stops from the airport.

Malaysia was an eye-opener, reminded me a lot of 'developed' Singapore. I liked it a little more though perhaps because of all its chaos, I was able to connect with it better than sanitised Singapore. People are very friendly, food is 'best in class', infrastructure is far ahead of other third world countries and the place is fairly clean. City planning is not the best, rail systems seem shortsighted and racial segregation is prevalent. I was in India for a few days and the difference was stark. To think that Malaysia was behind India in development is quite difficult now. In the end I think its all about size, SIZE MATTERS BABY!

Priya will be here next week and we shall reassume our domestic lives as husband and wife under the same roof (till my next business trip). Did I already say that I am quite happy with work, no complaints so far (No, my boss does not read this blog).

I have'nt forgotten about the pictures, soon...

Second Blog ever!

So when I told people that I have started blogging, some of the reactions were as follows

  • Really, thats cool
  • Wow, I would like to start one too but I do not know what to write
  • That friggin' cherickel always upto something
  • Oh please, give me break. You could never do it..
  • Ok

Not that I think I have ever been more creative in my replies to such a statement but then it got me thinking, did I say something that was encouraging ? More importantly what do you think of a person who tells you that they would like to talk about their life on the web? First reaction - Loony? Second reaction - needs some attention? Late reaction - He has a lot of free time at work!

Commentary from my life - Priya will be in Malaysia,Truly Asia, for 6 days. After some sun and noodles we head backto Pune, from where I go to Munich shortly after to be welcomed by remanants of 51cm of snow. More importantly we will start staying in a house that we are going to pay rent for! The last rent check I wrote was in in August. but we were two different rent checks . We ordered a whole bunch of furniture from India, so gotta wait a few weeks before we have things to sit on, eat on and sleep on.

Next project task will be to put up some pictures soon.

Sleepless in Kuala Lumpur

Have I already told you about KL? Well KL rocks, its not quite the place that I was expecting after hearing a long list of disparaging comments about it. The people are very friendly, food is fantastic and the weather is sweaty. It has one of the best collection of ethnic restaurants in the world, i.e. ethnic means Chinese, Malay and Indian food because they are all claim to be from here. Though of course, officially the sons of the soil are the Malays. Some obvious planning problems in the city but no expense has been spared in the vision for the city, it has tall building abound everywhere. When you come to places like this is when you realise how far my India has to come to be even compared to these Asian tigers.

Though like many new modern Asian cities, it lacks the historical glow of most beautiful european cities. But its cool, they are many things to do here for the young, single and ready to mingle kind. Not quite as in your face as is in say Bangkok but its temptation galore.

More soon...
