Cherickel Top 10 for 2006

2006 has been a bit of a mixed year, lots of high points and some dips. Here is what I think are some best moments from this year in no particular order..

1. Visiting the Bayon Temple in Angkor
2. Fish tandoori at the Mamak store in Bangsar, KL
3. Finding my apartment in Munich
4. Hiking up to see the Storseterfossen waterfalls in Geiranger, Norway
5. The third Maβ at the Oktoberfest
6. Suprise visit to Pune for my birthday in february. Priya was still in Pune
7. When I got my bonus letter
8. Watching the Germany-Argentina match in Gaertnerplatz
9. Best movie - Worlds fastest Indian
10. Being with family in Munich during the summer.

God has been kind this past year, perhaps the most professionally centric year I have had so far but also probably the most exciting one too.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - May the new Year bring you the most cheer and help you celebrate life more actively!

Merry Christmas

Christmas Cheer and wishes to all. This has been another special christmas, very relaxing and got ourselves stuffed in the process. We had the Quinns, Young and Catharina over for lunch on the 23rd, Priya outdid herself by making a few Kerala delicacies which left all of asking for more. This is the first time we are celebrating christmas in our house since we got married so it was really nice. We went to our friend place for dinner yesterday, traditionally in Germany the 24th night is the most important one of the christmas festivities so we got a special treat. The christmas tree is unveiled in the evening and presents are opened. The tree was covered in real lit candles and looked absolutely spectacular, the electric lights pale in comparison. We sang christmas carols and went for a german midnight mass. In germany, 'Silent Night' is only sung the night before christmas and not all through December as its commonly done in the rest of the world. We came back home to our friend's place for christmas pudding and whisky :)

One of my buddies from my engineering days , Binu, who I have not seen in 5 years was here on a business trip so it was great to catch up. Binu has'nt changed much, he successfully chatted anybody who was willing to talk to him in the Paris airport and got a recommendation for a Bavarian joint around the corner from us which has the best Schweinhaxe in town. Life has certainly moved on since we last met, for the better if I may add. Munich is overflowing with people, the christmas markets are busy.

Next post will be about Cambodia lost temples..

Apologies for jumping off the grid!!

My life is currently centered around work nowadays and consequently have given up all other activities including keeping the wife happy. So to get back into her good books we have taken a few days off to see Cambodia. I should be back to my scribbling in next week.
