Back Home again..
| Woke up to first light today but felt very strange, had no idea where I was. Foggily tried to acquaint my head to the curtains, the clock and the bed but other than feeling very familiar I still had no recollection. Then tried remember the previous night , of course it all clicked because I was cooking last night so chances are that I am in my own bed (in which I have not slept in about a month). Not sure if was the lingering taste of the carcinogenic beans (burnt), mashed dal (overcooked), the extra-seasoned chicken or the excellent Soaven wine that brought me back to my senses. Suffice to say that last night my culinary showing was not a stellar performance. When I cook, which in itself is an event, its starts with me opening a bottle of wine and usually the quality of meal is directly related to how drunk I am when the food is served, yesterday's excuse was that I was suffering from Jetlag. I actually look forward to cooking and that probably is because I can measure the results of my efforts from satisfied burps unlike my professional life which I never seem to be able to do.. My Matryoshka doll is back from Moscow without pictures however her stories are very entertaining as it sounds as if its all from an erstwhile era. A bit of role reversal yesterday evening, I was the one welcoming her back home. and hauling luggage back into the house. She had to use an interpreter for all her activities including her sightseeing trips around town, work culture (or the lack of it) is very boss centric and everyone seemed to be lighting up even during meetings. From what P says I would venture to say that if you are looking to go somewhere and be completely alien then trip to visit the Kremlin would fit that bill. I am going to write the german driving license exam this thursday, first exam since INSEAD so not sure how to prepare. Got an earful from my dad for not calling for a long time, did not fall for my excuse of bad telephone connection from Malaysia - told him thats why I am trying to sell telephone systems there :) Anand and Rohini are proud parents, Partha looks like he will grow up into a handsome fellow. Need to call them (and everyone else that I know) |
